Margaret Roseman Workshop
Saturday & Sunday, Apr.25 &26, 2009
The Margaret Roseman Workshop
is open to OWS members only. Please fill in your 2009 OWS membership number- it
is found on your membership card or contact Rosy Somerville.
Margaret will conduct a
critique of member’s work (one painting per person) on Friday evening from
MARGARET ROSEMAN
“A Painterly Approach” best
describes my personal style of picture making. You might say that it is a blend
of impressionism, photo-realism and abstraction.
Each workshop day will begin with a
demonstration. Starting with the
planning process to develop a purposeful composition, each lesson will explore
the benefits of traditional and/or experimental paint application. Whether
capturing the subtleties of flowers, the mood and mystery of
an atmospheric landscape or interpreting the quality of light in a still life,
each subject will provide an opportunity to guide participants to proceed with
confidence while working towards a personal painting style. Individual attention and an insightful
critique of work done will conclude each day.
Watercolour on Canvas
Using a canvas with a unique surface
developed for watercolour, learn to give your paintings new life. This forgiving support will allow you to
produce works of brilliant colour that may be framed
without glass. Take your watercolours to a new level!

Colours
These
are my personal preference of colours. You are welcome to use your own selection as
long as it includes a warm and a cool of each primary colour.
Regular watercolour brushes.
My usual choices are the same as for working on paper.

Fredrix’s
or equivalent brand prepared canvas for watercolour. You may prepare your own surface by applying
several coats of absorbent ground to regular canvas. This is a time consuming project and frankly
not worth the trouble. Canvas size is your choice, but please, no smaller than 11” x 14”.
