The 2009 Portrait Demo was a great success. I did not get an actual count of the number of people that attended as people came and went. The most people I counted at one time however, was 32. We had 3 models from the Ontario School of Art and 4 artists painting. The artists were Ted Duncan, Leonard Gerbrandt, David Kearn and Shirley Van Deusen. The artists did a wonderful job and were submitted to all kinds of questions from what color is that? To do you always do the shadows first? Shirley explained to us that she uses 140 lb paper stretched over a frame and tacked down with thumbtacks. It looks just like a canvas. Many of the participants got out their sketch books and joined in. Cheese and crackers, grapes, goodies, coffee and juice were served. Many thanks go to Wallacks for allowing us to use the gallery They also provided tables, chairs, stools for the models and also the coffee. This is Wallacks was of thanking the artists for their patronage.
Thanks also go to Dhanashri Athavale for organizing the artists and models.
