Watercolour Washes for Beginners
Join us for a virtual demo given by Brenda Beattie on watercolour washes. Practice and then complete a small painting. Feel free to paint along in your own homes and be guided by Brenda or simply watch. We will have time for interaction and questions following the demo. You will need to have the Zoom Cloud meetings App downloaded. Just click on the link in the email sent to you and be part of this experience. Please send RSVP to [email protected], so Jane can send you the link. Jane Barlow OWS Programs Coordinator

HopPamela Levac has organized another zoom meeting from 1-3 pm on May 7th for anyone who would like to paint along from home. This is a time to hang out and paint together (no instruction or guidance offered). This time please bring a subject of your own choosing. You could work from a a bunch of flowers, a still life, photographs, it's up to you. We can paint from 1-2:30, and then from 2:30-3 we can share our paintings by holding them up to the computer camera, and talk about what colours we chose, or why we chose that scene. Most of the time, we’ll just be painting, but it’s fun to have other people painting with us! If we can aim our cameras at our painting set-up, we can occasionally check in on what other people are doing. If you’d like to join us, just click on the Zoom link at 1 pm on May 7th : us02web.zoom.us/j/88427732540 Hope to see you there! Place: Carlingwood Library 281 Woodroffe Ave, Ottawa, ON Time: Executive Meeting 12:30 - 1:45 Critique 2:00 - 4:00 pm We have invited Marilyn Smith, a multi-media artist, well experienced in watercolour, and a past juror for the OWS, to share her experience and guide us in critically exploring our own artwork. She has trained under well-known artists, has a B.A. in Fine Arts, and has taught art for many years. This event is free and all members are welcome and are asked to bring 1-2 artworks, framed or unframed, to be explored in more depth for strengths and vulnerabilities, to learn how to more effectively examine one's own work. This event will follow our OWS Executive meeting, which will start at 12:30 pm. All members are welcome to attend this meeting. We are extending a special invitation to the Award winners from the 81st exhibition to receive their awards directly following the meeting around 2:00 pm. We invite you to bring the paintings associated with those awards to show the group. Light refreshments will be available.
